Your Pro license
Wirescry Pro is built into every release of Wirescry and unlocked with a license key. Without one, the Rules and Breakpoints tabs show what the feature does and how to get it; everything else in Wirescry works as usual.
Getting a key
Start a 14-day free trial on either Pro tab, or the buy page, opens checkout in your browser.
- The trial needs a card, and nothing is charged before it ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing.
- If you don't cancel, the first year is charged when the trial ends, and the subscription renews every year until you cancel.
- You can have a full refund within 30 days of paying.
- Students and open-source maintainers can ask about a discount at wirescry@casazium.com.
casazium.com/wirescry has the current price. Your key arrives by email.
Activating
Paste the key into License key and click Activate: on the License tab, or on a Pro tab after clicking I have a license key. Wirescry checks the key with Casazium's license server, then registers this computer.
Each key works on 3 computers. A computer counts once per user account on it, so two accounts on one computer use two.
The License tab shows the key's status, its last four characters, when it runs until, and when it was last checked. Check now checks it on demand.
Moving to another computer
License → Deactivate this computer frees this computer's place, so you can activate the key on another, and removes the license from this one. You can also free computers with the link in your license email, for example one you no longer have.
If the license server can't be reached, Remove from this computer only removes the license here; free the place with the link in your email afterwards.
Offline use and checks
Pro checks the license when it starts and about once a day while it runs. It works offline for up to 14 days since its last successful check, and says so while it's offline. After that, it needs to reach the license server again.
- License checks go straight to the license server: they ignore proxy settings and trust only the standard public certificates. A network that inspects TLS or allows no direct connections can't reach it.
- If your computer's clock goes back, Pro needs to check online.
- On Linux without a keyring, Pro can't store the license safely, so it checks online each time it starts.
The license is stored in Wirescry's data folder, encrypted with your system's keychain.
When a subscription ends
If you stop renewing after a paid year, Pro keeps working in the versions of Wirescry released while you subscribed, on the computers where it's activated. Newer versions need a current subscription, and an ended license can't be activated on a new or reinstalled computer. That's why Wirescry warns you before you deactivate a computer after your subscription ends. Trials don't keep Pro.
When Pro is locked, its rules stop applying and anything paused carries on; nothing is deleted. Subscribe again and your rules come back as they were.
